Job Function

eSite Analytics is seeking a front-end applications developer to join our team in Charleston, SC office.  This position will focus on supporting and developing the Geospatial (GIS) toolkit for our analytics platform. This position will build customer facing web applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing high quality, innovative, fully testable, and highly-performing web applications, services and software packages in an automated repeatable and optimized methods. This position manages large spatial datasets, including map authoring, data editing and creation, advanced geo-processing, and analysis. Possess strong skills in cartographic design, layout, symbology and labeling. The applicant should also demonstrate excellent attention-to-detail, initiative, self-motivation, and be well organized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct widgets and map-driven dashboards for analyzing and computing geospatial data
  • Understand demographic data such as data from the US Census to develop spatial models
  • Use the Google Maps API to manage data layers and map settings for users and groups

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional capacity in front-end and GIS web development
  • BS in Geomatics, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS, Geographic Information Science, Cartography, Computer Science and/or Engineering with certificate in GIS
  • Proficient with commercial and FOSS4G GIS mapping software and tools
  • Knowledge and experience with cross-browser and cross-device issues including Chrome, IE, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
  • Experience with D3 JavaScript library (or similar) for developing visual charts and diagrams
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (i.e. Vue, React, Angular)
  • Experience with modern JS UI and Widget libraries (jQuery UI, Kendo, Webix)
  • C#/ASP.NET, Web API 2
  • Knowledge and understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and datums
  • SQL Server programming and database design
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or TFS is a MUST
  • Utilize front-end unit testing frameworks to ensure code quality

Preferred

  • Familiar with map tiling and methods to produce tiled slippy map formats.
  • Strong understanding of CSS pre-processors, such as LESS or SCSS
  • Familiarity with other Mapping libraries like Leaflet, OpenLayers, ArcGIS JavaScript API
